"Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill," "Smallville," "Supernatural," "Everybody Hates Chris" And "America's Next Top Model" To Return Next Season

March 03, 2008 (Burbank, California) - The CW announced early pickups of six series today, including the network's signature reality hit, AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL, four dramas and one comedy. All six series will return for the fall season.

The network's most popular series, AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL will return with mega-star Tyra Banks for cycles 11 and 12. Returning dramas include the buzz-worthy freshman hit GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL, returning for a sixth season. These three series are the top-ranked shows on television with a concentration of women 18-34 viewers.

Also renewed were the long-running Thursday night team of SMALLVILLE, which will begin its eighth season, and SUPERNATURAL, which will begin its fourth season. In addition, the critically acclaimed comedy EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS will return for season four.

Here is the second part to the Cw's source interview with Mr One Tree Hill himself, Mark Schwahn.

On last night's episode of One Tree Hill, which was easily the best of the season, we saw an unlikely bond form between Peyton and Lindsey.  The two ladies had been constantly bickering and sniping at one another since the moment Peyton realized Lindsey was dating Lucas, and their cattiness reached an all time high when they were locked in the library together and forced to confront their issues.  After a battle of wits that culminated in the girls musically trashing one another while Mia strummed her guitar, they eventually found some common ground.  Peyton realized that Lindsey has a heart, and Lindsey realized that Peyton may not be the evil, bitter ex-girlfriend she's appeared to be.  Where will this unlikely friendship go, and is it ever a good idea to become pals with your ex's new girlfriend?


As someone who has had a few relationships, I can emphatically state that being friends with your ex's new significant other is awkward at best, and sometimes downright disastrous.  Sure, there are cases where people strike up a legitimate friendship with an ex that doesn't contain any romantic feelings, but it's obvious that Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and Lucas are light years away from that point.  As much as Peyton would like to stay friends with Lucas, I think she needs serious time away from him before she'll be able to handle that kind of platonic relationship.  Becoming pals with Lindsey will definitely not accomplish that.


Not only is this friendship a bad move for Peyton, but it's even worse for Lucas.  While having your ex and your new girlfriend constantly arguing is annoying, it can be even worse to have them palling around, gossiping about you and sharing secrets.  Either way, as long as Peyton is around things are going to be extremely awkward for Lucas (Chad Michael Murray).  Of course, it doesn't help that he's still in love with her.

The person who may be most negatively affected by the friendship is Lindsey.  Let's face it:  Lindsey doesn't stand a chance at staying with Lucas in the long run.  That's not how shows like this work.  She's bound to lose him to Peyton eventually, and the sting will hurt twice as much if it's coming from someone she considers a friend.

I commend the girls for finally finding some maturity and handling this love triangle like a couple of adults.  However, this is destined to end badly for every person involved.  Sure, Lucas and Peyton will be able to take comfort in one another's arms, but what about Lindsey?  She's doomed to move back to New York, single and probably with one less client on her editing roster.  The girls should stop this friendship now before it gets out of control.

Dear Molly,

This is gonna sound a little strange, but I'd like you to paint over my closet door. The thing is there is never a time when you'll be more honest, when your convictions will be stronger, or when your motives will be more pure than they are right now. Which means you should chase whatever it is that excites you. Be confident and take risks. And paint over my words so you can start writing your own. My story may have inspired you, but I'm certain your story will inspire the next girl to live in our room. I want you to know you don't need somebody to write about you in order for your life to mean something. You can write about yourself. Make your own destiny. Then, years from now the next girl will keep what you write on that door long enough to remind you of how inspired your life is. And you can tell that girl to pain over the door because you realize the words you wrote, the friends you had, the urgency you felt will always be there, underneath the paint. The love you professed will always be there. The spark of something undeniable. A seed of hope. The truth. For better or for worse. Burning fiercely just below the surface.
